Investment by African Seed Investment Fund
FAIM Rwanda is the first tissue culture business in Rwanda and indeed one of the first few in the region. The company propagates clean disease free plants like banana, passion fruit, pineapple, tamarillo, pineapple, bamboo and pyrethrum. This promises greater food security by improving smallholder farmers’ access to good quality, disease free planting material at a cheaper cost. FAIM has a plant propagation facility located in Rwamagana and tissue culture laboratory located in Rubona both with a capacity to generate 1Mn plants per annum. Our investment has enabled the business to strengthen its balance sheet and finance production of banana plantlets and other vegetatively-propagated staple food crops.
